Guess Ty Pennington really isn’t all that wholesome. He was arrested this weekend for “suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and drugs while driving”. Yep, he’s the latest celeb picked up for drunk driving (or who knows, maybe stoned driving?).

Ty Pennington”Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” star Ty Pennington was arrested early Saturday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and drugs while driving.

The hottie carpenter, who got his start on the TLC hit “Trading Spaces,” was arrested at 12:35 AM. He was released two hours later after posting $5000 bail.

And now, his obligatory “I screwed up” statement.

“I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused.”

So when will these celebs ever learn that you can afford to get a cab? I am guessing ABC isn’t going to look so well on Ty Pennington being picked up, especially since his Extreme Makeover: Home Edition helps people whose lives have been impacted by tragedy, including those who have suffered because of alcohol and drugs.

Behind the scenes look at Thanksgiving’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Normally a bit of buzz about families who have been chosen by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition hits the press prior to the airing of the show.  But when filming happenned in Dundee, Wisconsin - in pouring rain and strong winds no less - the local newspaper did a full behind the scenes feature on it.

Despite Monday morning’s heavy downpour and strong winds, volunteers for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” worked hard enough to get an hour and a half ahead of schedule, said Justin Furnace, president of Monarch Homes, the general contractor for the project.

“People here in Wisconsin have a giving attitude,” he said. “They’re working not only with their hands, but also with their hearts.”

“Extreme” crews knocked on Christine Koepke’s door at N3071 Highway 67 about 8 a.m. Friday, announcing that the family is the latest recipient of an “Extreme Makeover” home. Christine Koepke and her four children have been sent by the show to San Diego for the week. Christine’s husband, Matt, died Aug. 21 of cancer.

The home was falling apart. Friends of Matt, who organized a fundraiser for him this summer, have said Matt typically did work for others and put his own projects on hold.

The house won’t be finished until this Friday, when the “Reveal” will be done, complete with Ty Pennington.  But I am sure the newspaper will be there to report on that too.

The actual airing isn’t until November 26th, and will air as their Thanksgiving episode this year.
